Blessing Kaliya
Dasakam: 056 -- Slokam: 01
रुचिरकम्पितकुण्डलमण्डल: सुचिरमीश ननर्तिथ पन्नगे ।
अमरताडितदुन्दुभिसुन्दरं वियति गायति दैवतयौवते ॥१॥
ruchirakampita kuNDalamaNDalaH suchiramiisha nanartitha pannage |
amarataaDita dundubhisundaram viyati gaayati daivatayauvate || 1
Oh God, thus, when in the sky the gods Were singing prettily to the accompaniment of the drum,Played by the devas, you along with prettily waving ear rings, Danced on the hood of Kaliya for a long time.
Dasakam: 056 -- Slokam: 02
नमति यद्यदमुष्य शिरो हरे परिविहाय तदुन्नतमुन्नतम् ।परिमथन् पदपङ्करुहा चिरं व्यहरथा: करतालमनोहरम् ॥२॥
namati yadyadamuShya shirO hare parivihaaya tadunnatamunnatam |
parimathan padapankaruhaa chiraM vyaharathaaH karataala manOharam || 2
O Hari! Thou played around for long, leaving the drooped down head and jumping on the raised ones. Thus Thou trampled hood after hood with Thy lotus feet. Thou danced around in this manner keeping time with the clapping of hands beautifully.
Dasakam: 056 -- Slokam: 03
त्वदवभग्नविभुग्नफणागणे गलितशोणितशोणितपाथसि ।फणिपताववसीदति सन्नतास्तदबलास्तव माधव पादयो: ॥३॥
tvadavabhagna vibhugna phaNaagaNe galitashONita shONitapaathasi |
phaNipataavavasiidati sannataaH tadabalaastava maadhava paadayOH || 3
Hey Madhava , the king of snakes Kaliya with all his heads,Bent down due to the crushing blow of your dancing feet, The blood flowing from them rendered the waters of Yamunaa red. The serpent king was totally exhausted. So his wives came out, And fell in surrender at your feet.
मुनिभिरप्यनवाप्यपथै: स्तवैर्नुनुवुरीश भवन्तमयन्त्रितम् ॥४॥
ayi puraiva chiraaya parishruta tvadanubhaava viliina hR^idO hi taaH |
munibhirapyanavaapyapathaiH stavaiH nunuvuriisha bhavanta-mayanitratam || 4
Oh God, A long time the serpent wives had well heard of Thy majestic greatness. those wives of the snake sang your praises ,Which showed them, the way that even great saints, Cannot attain; which were full of devotion and knowledge and which came to them naturally, without any inhibition.
फणिवधूगणभक्तिविलोकनप्रविकसत्करुणाकुलचेतसा ।
फणिपतिर्भवताऽच्युत जीवितस्त्वयि समर्पितमूर्तिरवानमत् ॥५॥
phaNivadhuujana bhaktivilOkana pravikasat karuNaakula chetasaa |
phaNipati-rbhavataa(a)chyuta jiivitaH tvayi samarpita muurti ravaanamat || 5
O Achyuta! Thy heart was overflowing with compassion on seeing the devotion of the serpent wives. With Thy mind welled with such compassion Thou let the serpent king granting him life. who then surrendering himself unto Thee, prostrated before Thee.
रमणकं व्रज वारिधिमध्यगं फणिरिपुर्न करोति विरोधिताम् ।
इति भवद्वचनान्यतिमानयन् फणिपतिर्निरगादुरगै: समम् ॥६॥
ramaNakaM vraja vaaridhi madhyagaM phaNiripurna karOti virOdhitaam |
iti bhavadvachanaanyati maanayan phaNipati rniragaa duragaiH samam || 6
Thou advised him to go to the Ramanaka island, located in the central part of theocean, where he would not be troubled by his enemy, Garuda. Following Thy advice,with due respect, the serpent lord, departed along with the other snakes

फणिवधूजनदत्तमणिव्रजज्वलितहारदुकूलविभूषित: ।तटगतै: प्रमदाश्रुविमिश्रितै: समगथा: स्वजनैर्दिवसावधौ ॥७॥
phaNivadhuujana dattamaNi vraja jvalitahaara dukuula vibhuuShitaH |
taTagataiH pramadaashruvimishritaiH samagathaaH svajanai-rdivasaavadhau || 7
The serpent wives gifted Thee many gems, resplendent necklaces and silk garments. Adorned with these, towards evening, Thou joined Thy folk, who were waiting for Thee on the banks of the Yamuna with their sights mingled with joyful tears, and went with them.
निशि पुनस्तमसा व्रजमन्दिरं व्रजितुमक्षम एव जनोत्करे ।
स्वपति तत्र भवच्चरणाश्रये दवकृशानुररुन्ध समन्तत: ॥८॥
nishipunastamasaa vrajamandiraM vrajitumakshama eva janOtkare |
svapiti tatra bhavachcharaNaashraye davakR^ishaanurarundha samantataH || 8
Then as darkness fell, the Gopas could not return to their homes in the village. So they took refuge at Thy feet and spent the night in the forest nearby. Then, all of a sudden, a forest fire surrounded them.
Dasakam: 056 -- Slokam: 09प्रबुधितानथ पालय पालयेत्युदयदार्तरवान् पशुपालकान् ।
अवितुमाशु पपाथ महानलं किमिह चित्रमयं खलु ते मुखम् ॥९॥
prabudhitaanatha paalaya paalayetyudayadaarta ravaan pashupaalakaan |
avitumaashu papaatha mahaanalaM kimiha chitramayaM khalu te mukham || 9
शिखिनि वर्णत एव हि पीतता परिलसत्यधुना क्रिययाऽप्यसौ ।
इति नुत: पशुपैर्मुदितैर्विभो हर हरे दुरितै:सह मे गदान् ॥१०॥
shikhini varNata eva hi piitataa parilasatyadhunaa kriyayaapyasau |
iti nutaH pashupai-rmuditai-rvibhO hara hare duritaiH saha me gadaan ||10
Oh Hari ! The cowherds, overcome with joy, praised Thee, marvelling that, yellowness(peethatha), which was an attribute of fire only as a colour till now, had now become an essence of it by the act of being drunk peethatha also by the lord. Oh Guruvayurappa! May, remove my diseases as also the sins which cause them.
